ROLE OVERVIEW

The Strategic Intelligence team transforms complex data into actionable insights that guide technology strategy across Flutter's global portfolio. We combine AI-powered analytics, competitive intelligence, and innovation partnerships to help technology leadership anticipate challenges and capitalise on opportunities.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will sit at the intersection of traditional data science and modern AI/LLM engineering — building predictive systems, fine-tuning models, and architecting strategic intelligence platforms that power critical decisions across Flutter's technology portfolio. You'll work directly with CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and strategy teams, translating sophisticated analysis into clear, high-impact recommendations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Advanced Predictive Modelling & Analytics

  • Design and deploy forecasting models for workforce trends and technology adoption patterns using advanced statistical techniques and ML algorithms
  • Build predictive systems that identify skills gaps, technology investment opportunities, and competitive threats by analysing complex, multi-source datasets.
  • Develop simulation models that enable technology leadership to evaluate investment scenarios and forecast outcomes of key strategic decisions.

AI/LLM Engineering & Implementation

  • Design and implement RAG architectures — leveraging vector databases, embedding optimisation, and retrieval tuning — to extract strategic intelligence from organisational knowledge bases.
  • Fine-tune and customise AI models for strategic intelligence use cases, including synthetic data generation, model alignment, and performance optimisation.
  • Build automated AI workflows using orchestration tools to extract insights, summarise content, and eliminate repetitive intelligence tasks

Strategic Intelligence Systems Development

  • Architect end-to-end data science solutions that integrate traditional analytics with modern AI capabilities to deliver strategic intelligence to technology leadership.
  • Build and maintain MLOps pipelines for model monitoring, versioning, and deployment — ensuring reliable, scalable AI systems fit for enterprise-grade strategic decision support.
  • Design evaluation frameworks for AI-generated insights — combine automated assessment and human-in-the-loop validation

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • PhD or Master's in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, with 4–6 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Production AI/ML experience including deployment of machine learning models in business environments with demonstrated impact on strategic decision-making
  • Advanced statistical modelling expertise with experience in forecasting, simulation techniques, and trend prediction for complex business challenges
  • Modern AI/LLM engineering experience including RAG implementation, model fine-tuning, and building AI-powered business applications
  • Strategic consulting experience or equivalent background working with senior stakeholders to translate technical analysis into business strategy
  • Cloud platform proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including ML services, data pipelines, and scalable system architecture.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technology industry experience in high-growth environments with understanding of workforce planning, technology investment cycles, and competitive dynamics
  • Enterprise data science experience in regulated industries with understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management requirements
  • Experience mentoring junior data scientists or leading technical initiatives in cross-functional environments
  • Advanced AI research experience including publications, conference presentations, or contributions to open-source AI projects

BENEFITS WE OFFER

  • Hybrid Model: 2 office days/week with flexible leave policies, including maternity, paternity, and sabbaticals.
  • Access to Learnerbly, Udemy, and a Self-Development Fund for upskilling.
  • Career growth through Internal Mobility Programs.
