Role overview


The UKI Infrastructure and Platform team provides core services to our product and technology teams to enable them to have delivery and execution independence. As a Platform Engineer in the Flutter UKI Infrastructure and Platform team, your role is essential for maintaining and evolving the organization's technology infrastructure to improve our customer's enablement. Responsibilities include platform development and maintenance, system monitoring and optimization, capacity planning, infrastructure automation, security and compliance, and incident management and support.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates Good Knowledge of Infrastructure & Platforms Systems: Applies a comprehensive understanding of group engineering systems management as key responsibility involves contributing to designs, implementing, and maintaining the Flutter UKI platform infrastructure. This includes both the development of new platforms and the improvement of existing ones to meet evolving business needs.

  • Driving Improvements: actively seek out opportunities to improve processes, adopt new technologies, and enhance the reliability, performance, and security of the platform

  • Automation Contributor: Actively seeks and implements automation solutions and practices to reduce reliance on manual processes, and promote self-service

  • Ownership: Exhibit ownership of squad deliverables, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and accountability. Lead and take charge of a workstream or incident.

  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor to peers in the squad, actively sharing knowledge and teaching skills.

  • Role Modelling: Serve as a role model both behaviourally and in terms of capabilities, encouraging Associate/Graduate Engineers through their actions.

  • Consistency: Demonstrate a consistent delivery approach, providing a reliable and proven pair of hands in all tasks.

  • Stakeholder Management: Exhibit comfort in engaging with non-technical stakeholders, showcasing effective communication and high-level engagement.

  • Collaboration: Developing effective communication and collaboration with other teams, such as development and operations. You'll work closely with these teams on initiatives, embracing feedback with a positive attitude.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required

  • Experience with managing the following technologies

    • Splunk

    • Vault

    • Sensu

    • Elasticsearch/ECE

  • Experience coding with

    • Python

    • Ruby

    • Golang

  • Solid understanding of using the supported products in a production environment

    • CDK

    • Kubernetes/Docker

    • Networking

    • AWS

    • Git

    • Jenkins (or similar CI system)

    • Configuration Management (Chef, Ansible)

    • General Linux operations.

    • Infrastructure Specific Products (Virtualization, Storage technologies, Hardware appliances)

  • Aptitude for evaluating and embracing new technologies and tooling.

  • Experience with managing high-load, high-performance applications.

  • AWS experience supporting cloud native infrastructure through tooling and automation.

  • Able to input into the ways of working and structure of the squad

    • Develop engineers

    • Identify and fill skills gaps.

  • Strong People and communication skills.
