Role Overview:
Each weekend, we invite half a million friends to watch the game and place around 3 million friendly bets.
Our customers see odds, lines, spreads, play-by-play updates, deposits, and withdrawals.
We see only data, data, data, data, data, and data. Each contest generates tens of millions of individual data points that have to be collected, combined, understood, and acted on. All at the speed of the game. No time-outs.

Work as a Data Platform Engineer at FanDuel to unleash real-time data's power.
Work with various teams to develop tools that process data efficiently and present it meaningfully.
Seeking Data Platform Engineers with varying skill levels or experienced engineers from other fields interested in transitioning to big data.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Experimenting with new technologies, solving problems in the most efficient way
- Building, running, and maintaining enterprise production platforms
- Ensuring data security and privacy (e.g., GDPR, CPP)
- Implementing data governance and data testing frameworks (e.g., Alation, Great Expectations)
- Continuous integration and delivery of production data products
- Encouraging an inclusive culture that expects excellence and prioritizes your growth as an engineer and your well-being as a person
Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required:
- Passion for building highly scalable and available systems used by Data and Software Engineers, capable of efficiently running hundreds of data pipelines simultaneously
- Extensive experience working with Python
- Processing real-time streaming workloads with distributed event systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, Google PubSub, Flink, and Spark Streaming
- Implementing data lake, warehouse, and lakehouse architectures with a keen understanding of data archiving and retrieval solutions and their relationship to access vs. cost
- Solid understanding of the infrastructure set-up behind a scalable data platform and the software engineering design patterns to build it
- Comprehensive knowledge of software development lifecycles and the processes to make a software project successful
