Role overview:

•Lead a team of automation engineers providing cloud deployment frameworks and tooling, enabling Product Engineering Teams to quickly realize value for customers
•Own the end-to-end delivery pipeline owning the code driven deployment infrastructure, automated test safety nets, effective operational instrumentation and incident response.​
•A leader of people and a mentor to engineers within your squad, you should be on point for advice and guidance. You should be a team player who works collaboratively to achieve the goals of the squad.
•Work with your peer Engineering Managers within Platform Experience to ensure resourcing, priority and delivery commitments are aligned.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

•Drive customer-focussed feature delivery and improvements in CI/CD & Platform Experience Infrastructure automation frameworks. ensuring that delivery plans are achieved, and that they are driven by data and that the team commits to it.​
•Take on day-to-day management duties for the Engineers within your squad, including regular 1-2-1s, coaching and mentoring, enabling career development and assisting the Senior Engineering Manager with recruitment for new Engineers when required.​
•Actively participates in automation design, data flows and detailed technical design. ​
•Where appropriate will work with counterparts in Product and Delivery to achieve the outputs required.​
•Liaise with other teams with the business to communicate and co-ordinate work and dependencies.​
•Take ownership for code-quality, security & scalability, ensuring systems you work on achieve business goals and meet customer needs.​
•Ensures that high performers are challenged and champion their development. Equally ensures that poor performers are managed accordingly.​
•Fosters a culture of transparency, openness, ensuring the squad is a motivated cohesive unit. Takes robust action when they view behaviours which do not fit with these principals. ​
•Supports the implementation of Continuous Integration & Delivery, ensuring that delivery takes places in an Agile manner, releasing to production as soon as possible and experimenting where appropriate​
•Uses data to inform decision making around delivery approach, holds their team and themselves account for delivery towards the goals of the team​
•Actively participates in the culture of the Technology organisation, championing initiatives and showing a deep understanding of commercial goals and customer needs.​
•Ensures that all solutions built are of high quality and well tested. Ensuring features can be tested, and co-ordinating test efforts within team when required.​
•Continually drive improvements to QA process, ensuring that we constantly improve test coverage focussing on automation. Establishing strong standards and holding the team to them.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required:

•Proven track record of delivering projects through multi-disciplinary teams using Agile & lean principals.
•Able to clearly set priorities and focus on what is the most important task at hand.
•A comfortable leader and confident communicator. Able to explain complex technical ideas to technical & non-technical stakeholders.
•Commercially aware and with a strong focus on our Customer
•Experience working closely with other technology teams
•Structured thinking and a clear ability to plan out how to achieve product goals
