Job Purpose

The Flutter Studios Technology Senior Scrum Master will play a key role in the Flutter Studios (FS) tribe. Working closely with Agile coaches, the Senior Scrum Master will be responsible for facilitating the product development process for multiple Scrum/Kanban teams. The key drivers will be enabling agile teams to meet their sprint goals by helping the teams to coordinate their inputs and outputs, leading agile events, aiding in the removal of any impediments and buffering them from any distracting influences. The teams rely on the Senior Scrum Master’s leadership personality and creative approaches to bring out the best in them, and to help the teams constantly find ways to improve the ways they deliver value to their customers/stakeholders. The Senior Scrum Master will employ knowledge and experiences of Agile practices to support the continuous improvement efforts, as well as share expertise and experiences with the broader Agile community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving

  • Lead all Scrum or Kanban related events, including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement sessions, sprint retrospectives, and sprint planning ceremonies

  • Guide, coach, empower the team, facilitating discussions, decision making, conflict resolution, and delivery of committed work goals

  • Support the product owner by maintaining the product strategy/roadmap through story mapping, behaviour driven development (BDD) and Gherkin features

  • Provide leadership in identifying iterative process improvements and methods to streamline adoption of Agile methodologies

  • Take initiative and act as a leader to foster collaboration and communication between team members on technical issues and process improvements

  • Support the solicitation of input and feedback from stakeholders after each iteration

  • Proactively assess the team’s Agile maturity and constantly raise the bar to improve the team’s velocity within a sustainable pace of change

  • Manage and track team metrics (i.e. sprint burn down, velocity, lead time)

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders by assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information

  • Any other requests from Management

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, management information systems or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of experience working in a scrum master or agile coaching role within an Agile structure (i.e. Scrum, Kanban)

  • Working proficiency with the Atlassian suite of products (i.e. JIRA, Confluence)

  • Experience working across organizational boundaries on a local and global basis

  • Ability to quickly pivot and act with agility as dictated by the needs of the business

  • Advanced facilitation skills to conduct effective working sessions to drive problem solving

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communications skills, with the ability to explain complex technical challenges in a simple and effective manner

  • Understanding of modern software development frameworks such as BDD, TDD, CI/CD and branching strategies
