Senior Delivery Manager - Sportsbet

The role:

A leadership position within the Sportsbet division with primary accountability for the delivery of customer outcomes, aligned with organisation's strategic priorities.

This includes broad foundational technology changes and roadmaps for our Risk & Trading platforms, self-service toolsets for other teams to consume/build on, and supporting the delivery of best in class customer experiences.

The Senior Delivery Manager will be accountable for at least 2 delivery teams of 8 people with diverse skillsets who utilise agile ways of working to deliver and support Sportsbet Risk & Trading Platform.

As a Senior Delivery Manager, keeping a focus on growing individuals, building team dynamics, prioritising a platform backlog with multiple inputs, enabling delivery teams, and collaborating across a wide range of functions are key success factors.

This role requires exceptional communication skills, as interaction and engagement with senior management will be a regular aspect of the role. This is a technical role, with experience in all aspects of software delivery processes, from inception to release required.

  • Lead continual evolution of agile ways of working both within the Platform team and enablement for all teams who interface with the platform
  • Set objectives with the team consistent with the performance framework which promote individual, team and organisational outcomes

  • Understand the learning objectives of the team and ensure needs are met
  • Coach, hold 1 to 1s, set and review objectives, appraise performance, and assist with career development, ensuring effective performance management

LEADERSHIP (Influence)

Be a constructive and highly motivated member of both the Cluj Tech Extended Leadership team (ELT) and Platforms ELT by: 

  • Collaborating proactively with Platform ELT colleagues, including those in other Platform teams
  • Assembling around problems or opportunities to maximise results for the organisation

In the context of the Platform Team, develop strong and robust relationship with all stakeholders to ensure: 

  • Platform priorities and goals are aligned, clearly articulated with commercial, technical, and Customer Experience Team enablement success measures identified 
  • Platform roadmap, strategic direction and practices are aligned with other Platform teams and any dependencies/enablers are managed properly with the Platform Extended Leadership Team
  • Idea/Exploration, delivery and support practices, including planning, prioritisation, customer feedback, incident management etc are in place, effective and well understood by teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Platform delivery and commercial measures are consistently captured and insights/learnings are used to inform value based decisions


  • Create an environment where the Platform team is empowered to self-manage, and sets up Customer Experience teams to more effectively self-manage
  • Ensure the team has clearly defined platform success criteria and objectives, as well as continually ensuring those criteria are being met
  • Create, prioritise and maintain backlogs to ensure alignment with customer outcome and provide delivery insight (estimates & progress, risks/issues, dependencies, etc.)
  • Provide ongoing insight to stakeholders on outcome progress and/or team health
  • Align with other Platform teams and Customer Experience Teams to ensure cross team collaboration through mechanisms such as Scrum of Scrums
  • Manage stakeholder expectations e.g. connection with multiple backlog owners and Product Management functions to facilitate intake and reporting of work
  • Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver on customer outcomes
  • Assist team with tracking to regular date commitments or release windows and setting expectation of regular shipping
  • Work with other leads of delivery teams to coordinate regular releases into Production with no/minimal disruption to customer experience

LEADERSHIP (Communication)

  • Work with Platform Manager peers to establish and oversee an effective but not cumbersome communication plan between the Risk&Trading Cluj and Melbourne teams
  • Ensure teams have smooth and effective escalation paths when issues are unable resolve issues, especially where these rely on cross-time zone communication
  • Proactively establish and build relationships with multiple internal/customer/business demand creators, in particular project, practice and reporting, to facilitate the flow of inbound backlog items and reporting

Key experience & qualifications

  • Proven experience in a role leading a cross functional design, delivery and support team of 15+ technical experts
  • Delivery leadership experience within eCommerce and Agile environments of high volume / throughput and complexity (e.g of product, stakeholders)
  • A respected Technology leader with strong communication esperience, ideally across time zones
  • Working with distributed, redundant and transactional systems and the testing of these;
  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.
