We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our Paddy Power Design team. We design, develop, test and maintain all of Paddy Powers digital assets across online sports, gaming & our digital touch points instore.
You’ll work collaboratively with the business to create innovative products, applications and software that can handle the biggest of challenges - like 11m financial transactions every Saturday afternoon.
Having worked in the design industry for 2 or more years, you’ll have started to develop a design skill sets, practices and process to call upon. You’ll have a passion for creating easy to use, enjoyable experiences for our customers that are engaging, consistent and encourage Safer Gambling.
So, what’s does it mean to be a UI/UX designer in Paddy Power.
Firstly, this means that you own the problem end to end - you will be responsible for creating exceptional customer experience that solve our customer or business problems. You work in close collaboration with our partners in Product management & development to align on the usability, feasibility & viability of the solutions to create solutions that customers love. You can clearly articulate the challenge & solution with clarity
You know how to find and use data to untangle the problem space, creating meaning by connecting the right customer data points and creating new ones to help tell a compelling story.
Secondly, you will be responsible in creating all design elements across that journey - from user flows, wireframes, high fidelity mock ups to interactive prototypes. You will be able to conduct unmoderated usability research studies to refine & improve your designs - constantly keeping the customer at the heart of all that you do.
Thirdly, you will be supported by our wider team of 12 designers who are dotted across Europe in our hubs in Dublin, Porto & Cluj-Napoca. With this team you will enrich & drive the design culture - sharing and discussing design culture and the latest design trends.
Fourthly, you understand the power of words in your designs to drive meaning & understanding. Using Paddy’s tone of voice in the right time.

What will I be doing?
- Focus on the customer - first & last - using research and data to define a customer centered approach to our designs.
- A collaborator with the wider business; PMs, other Product designers, developers, researchers, marketers, and others on all projects.
- Create low, medium and high-fidelity wireframes and functional prototypes.
- Partner with stakeholders & team members to tease out requirements and defining user goals and pain points.
- Use your extensive knowledge of design methodologies to educate and influence cross-functional team.
- Define incremental Product Design development paths for new and existing functionality across products.
- Communicate the value of design solutions to a range of stakeholders with varying familiarity of design and technology.
- A clear understanding of design systems and be able to make the most of an established visual system.
What skills and experience do I need?
- 2 - 4 years focused Product design experience — designing software products/web apps.
- Ability to design polished, high-fidelity mockups of your solutions using modern design tools such as Figma and Sketch.
- A portfolio demonstrating thoughtful problem-solving skills. Walk us through your design process, including the problem you were trying to solve and the research and sketches that brought you to your final design solution.
- Ability to inspire confidence in colleagues through your strong communication, planning and organisation skills.
- Motivated self-starter who can deeply collaborate with other disciplines including product management, development, research, and analytics.
- A growth mindset – we put this at the heart of our team culture. Willingness to own problems. Comfortable with ambiguity. A desire to make things better.
- A balanced sense of optimism and humility.
Additional qualifications/skills:
- We’re more interested in design fundamentals than in specific domain or platform knowledge but would strongly prefer to hire someone with plenty of experience designing for complex interfaces.
- We also love candidates with experience designing any of the following: responsive websites, native mobile apps, data visualisation and broad information architecture.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS and front-end web technologies will also earn you points with your future development colleagues.
- An interest in sport would be highly advantageous.
