Job Purpose
Linux Engineer focused on maintenance, support, and implementation of enterprise infrastructure. This position ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and support the development of new technologies and system requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provisioning of new systems on different flavors of Linux on Physical, Virtual and Cloud platforms.
- Performing BAU support duties and day-to-day operational support for Linux based systems.
- Keep a close watch on all Linux installed systems and infrastructure components
- Perform automation tasks on modern technology and with IaC in mind.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, Automation Tools, and system management tools
- Troubleshoot and remediate low level issues impacting the operation of the infrastructure
- Assist with implementing systems and Infrastructure integrations
- Provide systems documentation
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Produce custom scripts to increase system efficiency with less human intervention time on any tasks
- Liaise with other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Retain redundancy strategies, backup, and security
- Participate in or lead cross-team design meetings
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation pattern.
Essential Skills and Capabilities
- 2+ years of Linux engineering experience.
- Experience working in an agile environment utilizing Scrum, Kanban
- Templates, YAML, Python, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes; cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Strong oral and written communication skills - and a knack for explaining your decisions
- A collaborative work style demonstrated initiative and the ability to prioritize your time and efforts.
- Deep understanding of technology concepts, development tools, and technical standards.
- An ability to code in main automation languages
Desirable:
- Experience in using automation frameworks
- Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
- Demonstrated success in building infrastructure in the public cloud and deploying through CI/CD pipelines, utilizing technologies such as AWS
